Pioneer Hires New Manager for Growth Fund

US-based Pioneer Investments has hired Brian Stack as portfolio manager of Pioneer Growth Opportunities Fund and Pioneer Growth Opportunities VCT Portfolio. He will be based in the Boston office in charge of a three-person US Small Cap Growth team supported by Pioneer Investments’ global research staff, which provides fundamental and quantitative research.

Mr Stack worked most recently at Long Trail Investment Management, a small- and mid-cap equity hedge fund firm which he co-founded and where he served as portfolio manager and analyst from 2005 to 2007.

The funds’ previous co-managers were Peter Wiley and Diego Franzin. Mr Wiley remains a member of the team and portfolio manager of the Pioneer Small Cap Value fund. Mr Franzin was recently promoted to head of Global Quantitative Research.
